First impression

The Hunter Legend 35.5 is a revolutionary design in the evolution of sailboat design. Hunter's decision to keep the beam wide all the way aft allowed for moving the head aft and opening up the stern to a generous aft cabin. Not to mention a generous cockpit with a true walk thru transom.

Knot Inn, the 35.5 I have listed on Georgian Bay, just outside of Midland ON. is a great example of this model.

Very clean, even in the bilge, and nicely upgraded over the years, this boat is ready to go and because of her condition and upgrades will not cost you a lot of money and time on improvements so you can concentrate on sailing.

I like this boat. Very clean, nicely upgraded and a great model for a couple or a small family.

Sails and rigging

Like everything else on this boat the sails and running rigging are clean and are nicely upgraded.

The sails are clean and crisp.

The boat comes with three sails.

Main - new in 2016 - U.K. sailmakers

Genoa - new in 2016 - U.K. sailmakers

Cruising spinnaker  - lightly used

Running rigging has been changed out as needed over the years. All lines are newer and are clean and not discoloured or frayed.

Accommodations

Warm teak and fresh interior cushions greet the skipper and crew down below. This boat is one of Hunter's master pieces of design. A wider aft section allows the head to move aft and create a large aft cabin and a bright and spacious forward cabin.

This design changed the interior of sailing yachts and gave sailors a viable aft cabin allowing for more crew (friends) on overnight trips.

The interior of Knot Inn is very clean, right down to the bilge. A generous galley with double sinks, propane oven and stove, newer refrigeration and plenty of storage gives you all you need to put together a quick snack or a gourmet meal.

Lots of light and ventilation is offered from the opening ports and the overhead hatches.

Thanks to the wider stern and higher freeboard, the boat is large for it's size and looks like a bigger boat. Everyone who comes below positively comments on the layout and the size.

Because of the higher freeboard, you do not feel cramped and compressed in either the forward cabin or the aft. Lots of headroom, light and opening ports, makes sleeping or spending time below a good thing.

An upgraded, real mattress, in the aft cabin promises a good sleep after a fun day on the water.

Hull and deck

Visually the hull and deck are very clean and show no signs of marks or cracks.

A recent survey did identify some moisture issues but stated they do not affect the safey or integrity of the deck and were normal for this type of boat and her age.

Often by this time in a boat's life, there are scratches and dings on the hull and bangs in the deck from dropped equipment or stress but this boat shows very well. No damage to the hull and the topsides look great.

Engine

Yanmar engine was professionally rebuilt 3 years ago and has very few hours on her. Another great bonus.

Engine hours - 30
