Cockpit and Helm

The cockpit and helm on the 3500 Open is a perfect example of the company’s proven formula for successful express designs. The cockpit is comfortable and spacious and provides plenty of seating options. The helm seat is wide and comfortable, with an aft wet bar with storage below, and an aft-facing seat. 

Tiara’s helm station is arguably the best-designed on the market. Well-placed engine monitors complement the broad expense of surface-mounting space for your navigation electronics, and electrical switches. The helm itself is the standard Tiara "heads up" fiberglass tilt-away station, which allows full and easy access to all the electrical breakers, wiring and mechanical equipment behind the helm. 

To port is an all-fiberglass companion door shroud with molded-in navigation chart area and drink holders. The companionway door is an acrylic sliding door with lock and convenient built-in screen. The companion seating arrangement features a curved lounge, with storage and cooler. The lower cockpit is exceptionally spacious and versatile, featuring aft transom storage with excellent access to aft bilge and a fresh water washdown.

The large windshield and rollup side curtains make for great visibility. The one level deck with wide side walkways and abundant handrails makes for easy accessibility and boat handling.

Accommodations

To starboard lies a large U-shaped lounge, which easily converts to a dinette or a double berth as well as a pullman berth, which can be raised to provide space for a fifth overnight guest.

The forward features a private stateroom with a queen-sized pedestal berth and copious hanging lockers and storage. Alina is extremely well lit and ventilated with both plentiful artificial and natural lighting from overhead hatches.

• Routine preventative engine maintenance performed in accordance Cummins and industry standard recommendations, including aftercoolers serviced every 4 years, water pump impellers replaced every 2 years, pencil zincs change every season, oil and filters changes at end of every season, fuel filters changed at end of every season, transmission fluid change either every year or every other year, engines cleaned and sprayed with corrosion inhibitor at end of each season.

• Major preventive maintenance performed by current owner include replaced starboard turbocharger, replaced starboard belt tensioner, replaced engine exhaust elbow assemblies, installed upgraded heavy duty Seaward Marine water pumps, replaced port alternator, upgraded air filters, replaced hoses, reconditioned props and replaced cutlass bearings.   

• Upgraded extra backup exhaust temperature overheating alarms installed on exhaust elbows, which serve as added protection to the standard engine cooling water overheating alarms.

• Engine oil lab samples taken at the end of every season or every other season to monitor engine health and lubricant condition, helping to identify potential problems before they lead to costly repairs. Oil samples always found engines to be in good condition.  

• Freshwater flushed engines and air conditioner prior to every winter layup season. Shrink-wrapped and stored out of water every season.

• Fuel topped off and treated with ValvTech BioGuard Plus 6 fuel treatment prior to every winter layup season.  

• Always used fresh clean ValvTech marine diesel fuel.

• Underwater zincs on shafts and trim tabs change annually.

• Underwater ablative antifouling paint touched up annually. Underwater metal props, shafts, thru hulls, rudders, and trim tabs coated with Pettit Prop Coat Barnacle Zinc Barrier and top coated with Pettit Hydrocoat Eco Copper-Free ablative antifouling Paint. Underwater fiberglass coated with Petti Hydrocoat ablative antifouling paint.

• Hull waxed and boat shrink-wrapped out of water every season.
